RIBA Stage 4 – 6 Design

Stage 4: Technical Design
At this stage, the design is fully developed into detailed drawings and specifications. Architects, engineers, and consultants collaborate to refine structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Any outstanding regulatory approvals are secured, ensuring full compliance with UK building standards.
This stage ensures the project is ready for the build phase, with all components planned and approved.
Working contractor-side DCC often pick up designs put together by peer MEP consultants and develop from Stage 3 through to Stage 6.
Working client-side we continue with prior development from Stage 1-3 and develop sound technical solutions ready for a detailed tender and subsequent installation.

Stage 5: Construction
With approvals and contracts in place, construction begins. The design team oversees progress, ensuring quality and compliance. Regular site inspections, progress meetings, and problem-solving ensure smooth execution.

Stage 6: Handover & Close-Out
Once construction is complete, the building is handed over to the client. Final inspections, testing, and snagging ensure everything meets specifications. The team provides operational manuals and training for long-term maintenance.
By Stage 6, the project is successfully completed, ready for occupation and long-term use.
